Are you going to the Churchill War Rooms? Great!

Do you know that much about Churchill? If not, maybe this quick tour is the perfect thing to do before going inside.

Let’s be honest, not everyone is a “World War II buff”. If you have one person in your group that is quite keen, but the rest are just “along for the ride” why not pique their interest first with this tour.

In this walking tour, we will look at the man himself: Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill. Through the eyes of his mother, his wife, his children, his friends, his colleagues, and the nation, we will find out more about him. What made him so great? Why do we revere him still today? What was his favourite cake?

Those interested in the life and times of Winston Churchill will be sure to enjoy this walk. We cover ground in Westminster, taking in statues and stories from the fascinating life of Winston Churchill. The walk includes Winston as a boy and his famous parents, his early military career and his love of cigars, his World War I blunder, his proposal to Clementine, World War II and his Prime Minister years. But we also cover King Edward VII’s coronation, women’s suffrage, and where you can buy his favourite cigars.

One thing about the Second World War, it inspired some tremendous music hits! Wartime music is woven nicely into this tour, with a few lyrics from some famous songs of the time to help create the atmosphere. Some songs were anthems of recruitment, others were the perfect way to keep the soldiers in your thoughts. Join in and sing with your tour guide or just tap a foot and enjoy!

The tour takes in famous sightseeing locations including Big Ben & Houses of Parliament, Downing Street, and Trafalgar Square. You'll enjoy this experience and find yourself humming a tune all the way home. If you have booked tickets to the Churchill War Rooms, you’ll be able to walk there after the tour for your entrance time.

The tour is fully accessible for wheelchairs, strollers or other mobility devices , but some locations have steps that cannot be avoided. We can alter the route to meet your mobility needs, thus you can still enjoy this tour. Please notify the guide at least 24 hours before the tour begins. Suitable for adults and children of all ages. Available for private hire upon request. Please book your space in advance, as walk up spaces are not be available.
